Manufacturing & Process Plant Engineering

In the past six years, EDM started over twenty design projects that provided new equipment accommodation, modernization or expansion to processing plants across the United States.  Structural, Mechanical, Plumbing, Architectural and Electrical services were required for these projects, which ranged from construction values of $100,000 to over $10,000,000 and required the following design services:

Assessment of structural framing for new loads on several large processing plant structures, incorporating:

  • Field documentation of existing equipment loads
  • Reinforcement of roof trusses, columns and other framing
  • Over-framing of roof structures to redistribute new loads
  • Lateral framing system analysis for new wind and seismic load demands

Support of material handling equipment and ventilation systems
Design of access platforms and catwalks
Addition of in-plant office spaces
Upgrades to plant ventilation systems
Company-wide fire suppression strategy report
Motor control room modifications and additions

The impressive continuity of this work is due to the enthusiastic partnering by EDM’s talented engineering staff. Each of these assignments was generally  accomplished by establishing a construction cost projection at the project onset, which was managed throughout the design stage, and providing a clear and complete design narrative with the preliminary design submittal. The final plans were field checked, quality reviewed, and provided on schedule. This was performed in a collaborative environment with robust communication at each step.
