When he is not directing the daily business aspects of EDM, Gholam enjoys organizing and directing some of the larger Structural Engineering projects. As a recognized expert in seismic design intricacies, his input is invaluable. He takes particular pride in the design of the St. Louis Domed Football Stadium, Wiltel Tower in Tulsa, industrial projects and numerous theme park projects across the country. His long term affiliation with Washington University Structural Engineering College offers him the opportunity to “give back” by mentoring graduate students working on their major design project.

Steve enjoys a record of successful collaboration for over 30 years with practically all St. Louis area Municipalities, Highway Departments and Sewer Districts as well as Illinois and Missouri Departments of Transportation. Steve has had the opportunity to lead the design on many important projects including The Missouri Department of Conservation Columbia Bottoms Park, MODOT – I-55 Ramps at Lafayette St. Louis, Barrett Station Road (STP) and St. Charles County 79 Bridges – Peruque & St. Paul. A leader in the design community, Steve is past President of the St. Louis Section of ASCE, past Chairman of the St. Louis Branch of APWA,a past board member of the Engineers’ Club of St. Louis, and an active member of ACEC/MO, currently serving on a number of committees, including the MSD Liaison Committee.

Steve is head of our Project Management Group. Steve has over 40 years of professional experience in a wide variety of building systems. His responsibilities include providing coordination between client and project team. He is particularly skilled in serving institutional and corporate clients. He serves as the direct client liaison and schedules regular project meetings to ensure the project progresses on time and on budget. Steve’s building experience encompasses new building projects, interiors renovations, restoration of historic buildings, and new additions to existing structures
Len Madalon, MS, PE
Len Madalon is a Vice President of the firm and has led our stormwater division for 14 years. He has worked on and managed studies and design projects for municipalities including stormwater needs assessments, stormwater master planning, creek bank stabilization, bio-stabilization, flood studies, bridge and culvert replacements, storm and sanitary sewer lines and pump station projects. He has applied for and obtained Letters of Map Change from FEMA and Nationwide and Individual Permits from the COE. His experience includes work on hydraulic and hydrologic modeling, fluvial geomorphic analysis, GIS, specifications, quantities, construction cost estimating, easements and plans for construction.
John Sonderman, PE, SE
As a Principal and former firm President, John provides special support to the Structural Engineering Department. With a reputation for innovative structural engineering solutions, John has managed the design of major complex projects, such as the National Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C. Always interested in new challenges, John currently designs large vision panels in acrylic and tempered glass for national exhibit contractors, provides expert testimony and enjoys working with EDM’s library of state-of-the art computer applications, including design and non-linear finite element analysis. Community service includes Chair of the Florissant Planning Commission, City Engineer for Warson Woods, and Special Ambassador to the Special School District in St. Louis, MO.
